Quick Shot: Spanish Moss

Growing up in Georgia, there is one thing that whenever I see it, I think of home (the south)..... spanish moss. I love the old and fancy look of a tree covered in spanish moss, so when I recently visited Savannah, my goal was to find the perfect tree.

After some extensive searching, I found giant tree that had the perfect amount of hanging moss. There was enough gap in the branches and leaves to get some of the sunlight from the sky and lots of small detail in the bark. I pulled out my widest lens and shot this image at 14mm to get as much of the tree in the photo as possible. As I pressed the shutter, I knew this photograph would be converted to black and white so that your eye could really appreciate and search all the details in the bark, leaves and hanging moss.

I'm headed to New York City this weekend, so stay tuned for more shots!
