Quick Shot: In Amongst the Trees

Usually if you are in the middle of a forest and you look out, you see more forest. The view rarely changes from trees - although I love a view of trees! On this particular hike, looking out from the trees yielded a different result. I could see beyond the limbs of the pines and out to Lake Buttermere in the English Lake District, and then across to a mountain rising toward the sky. It is a fantastic scene, and when I think about it, it's the rareness of this type of scenery that makes it so appealing. How often do you get all these elements and colors in one photograph? 

This was shot with the Leica SL and 24-90mm lens. Like all of my photographs, it was shot in RAW (DNG) and edited in Photoshop. While there is tremendous detail in the shadows of the foreground trees, I opted to keep them darker. Lightening them gave an artificial look - this image more accurately represents what I saw with my eyes.
