Quick Shot: Sod Roof
The Scandanavian countries are known for reindeer, salmon, snow, and wonderful people. As discussed in previous Quick Shot posts, the architecture of Scandanavia also has some unique characteristics, including the use of sod to cover roofing on homes and barns. The thick sod roof offers great insulation against the bitter cold of winter, and helps keep the homes a little cooler in the summer. And, of course, it looks freaking cool! Getting a great photograph of the sod covered roofs was a 'must do' during my recent trip to Norway, and I think I nailed it with this shot. The waterfall and greenery in the background really give this shot character and personality.
Photographed with the Leica SL and Leica 24-90 vario-elmarit lens.
